Organizing Movies Can Make A
Home Theater More User Friendly
Creating a home theater is a fun and rewarding project. This
is especially so for the major movie lover with an extensive
movie collection. What better
to watch a
great movie on that a huge television complete with surround
sound?
That's simple - a huge television complete with surround sound
that happens to be in your own home theater.
The challenge for the major movie fan, however, is organizing
DVDs, VHS tapes and other multimedia items that might be
included in their home theater's collection. With the price of
DVDs down to under $20 in a lot of cases, many are finding
collecting is a whole lot cheaper than buying tickets at the
box office. Inasmuch, even the casual collector can find
themselves with dozens, even hundreds of movies right at their
fingertips.
That's where the problem comes in. How the heck can you find
a particular movie when there are dozens and dozens laying
around, unorganized.
To add a little rhyme and reason to a good movie
collection there are a few steps to take:
- Figure out how you intend to store/display your
collection. Do you want it concealed from view in an
armoire maybe? Perhaps you love to fill every rung on a
high tower and then move on to another one? Maybe you like
your movie titles all lined up like a row of books?
Whatever means you choose, this is the place to start
because without storage or display areas, there's no
organizing.
- Come up with an organization system. Some people prefer
to alphabetize titles, others like to group them by class -
children's, drama, horror, for example. It doesn't matter
what system you prefer, just use something to enable you to
find your favorites when you want them.
- Consider other family members. If there are youngsters
in the house that will be using the theater, consider
separating out their movies for quick access. Keep titles
you don't want them to watch out of their reach, too.
- Consider keeping your family's favorite movies - the
ones you'll watch again and again - in a special
place.
Creating a home theater is a fun endeavor, especially for a
family that has a passion for movies. This room can become the
centerpiece of a home and provide hours and hours of family
enjoyment. If you can't find the movies, however, the fun will
be delayed. So organize those titles!
