A Case For Including Cable In
A Home Theater
The screen is huge. The seating is just right. The surround
sound is in place. The DVD collection is to die for. But
something's still missing. The cable television.
Why would anyone want to include cable television in a home
theater? After all, it's all about the movies, right?
Yes, and no.
A good home theater offers something for the entire family.
It's a room to retreat to at the end of a long day. While a
formal home theater may be exclusively for viewing the latest
flicks, a more functional one includes regular television
viewing options as well. After all, would you rather catch your
favorite program on your big screen with great speakers or on
the little television back in the bedroom?
Why reserve the room for movies alone
when the comfortable chairs and optimum viewing would make
swallowing the evening news or the latest regular television
hit that much more bearable to watch?
In the case of families, the need to include regular cable is
almost a given. For parents who have bought big screen
televisions, it's a common situation to find that fancy TV
plays more cartoons than movies during the course of an average
week. By including cable, the amount of use the room will get
can increase ten fold. Dust doesn't have to collect between
showings of the latest flicks.
Cable itself can be a great addition to a theater room, too.
Considering the number of stations and made-for-cable movies
and shows going today, cutting this out entirely can put a
serious damper on show-watching pleasure, too.
With literally dozens of movie channels available, not to
mention specialty shows, cable can keep the screen warm 24
hours a day. Plus, the added features for young viewers can be
fantastic. From educational programming to entertainment geared
to any age, the cable of today is a lot different than it was a
few decades ago.
Plus, to truly check out the great new HDTV features offered
today, cable or a satellite and a decoder are necessities.
By cutting out the cable, or at least the regular television
programming, a home theater owner is limiting the
possibilities.
A good home theater for a family offers a lot of options. It's
a great place to kick back and relax at the end of the day and
inasmuch it should offer something for everyone.
